Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the jobholder will serve as a key partner to the CFO and business leaders of Airbus Canada, helping drive the finance organization's role as a critical contributor to both the strategic and operational functions of the Company. The Head of Tax plans and directs all aspects of the organization's tax policies and objectives. Airbus Canada has low single digit billion USD annual revenues. He / She leads and directs work internally and with external advisors.

In your role, you will:

  • Direct all aspects of annual income tax compliance cycle and monthly sales and use tax cycle including supervision of external providers, all make/buy decisions and all process improvement initiatives.
  • Manage R&D tax credit declarations.
  • Conduct negotiations and resolve issues with federal, provincial and local taxing authorities including administrative proceedings and settlement of tax controversies.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Strategy, and Treasury colleagues on acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and refinancing activities to achieve tax-optimized alternatives.
  • Issue tax due diligence reports to management, direct integration of target entities into the existing tax filing scheme when required.
  • Direct all tax considerations around organic Canadian growth initiatives.
  • Interface with Airbus group tax team.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of financial statement tax provisions and the implementation and maintenance of the company's income tax reserves. Working cross functionally with Treasury and Accounting to manage tax impacts on free cash flow. Responsible for maintaining process and control documentation.
  • Develop Canadian corporate tax compliance strategy.
  • Serve as Tax representative in Canada for matters related to regulatory developments. Support Government Relations in relation to lobbying efforts.
  • Direct all transfer pricing policies and documentation including the submission of Advance Pricing Agreement request to the CRA.
  • Work as trusted business advisor, delivering proactive advice on the tax impacts of operational changes. Driving implementation of these tax optimized solutions cross functionally within the Finance community.

 As our ideal candidate,

  • Masters of Science in Taxation (mandatory)
  • CPA license or equivalent
  • 10+ years of diverse tax experience required of which at least five to eight years' experience in large corporate environment.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  • The candidate must possess excellent communication and leadership skills in addition to proven tax planning and organization capabilities. Must have demonstrated the ability to build long-term successful relationships with senior executives, business unit leaders, external advisors and staff.
  • Must possess proficiency in all key technical areas of corporate tax in Canada, as well as general international tax, transfer pricing, indirect taxes, and accounting for income taxes. Experience with international transactions and customers, particularly those involving Western Europe and US is a noteworthy plus.
  • Travel approx. 20%.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English required. French is a strong plus.
